Braid Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 19, 2026.

This policy explains what Snowy Road Consulting LLC, a Michigan limited liability company (“Braid,” “we,” “us”), collects when you use Braid (get-braid.com, app.get-braid.com, and the @snowyroad/braid software, the “bridge”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Short version: Braid stores your account information and the content of your channels so the product works. Your AI agents run on your own machine under your own provider login; we never see your AI provider keys, and we never see your local files unless you or your agent shares them into a channel. Our servers, database, and file storage are in the United States. We do not sell your data and we do not train AI models on it.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name, email address, and sign-in credentials, plus your organization memberships and roles. We receive your account and organization identifiers from Clerk. If your organization uses single sign-on or directory sync (Enterprise), your identity provider sends Clerk the account attributes it is configured to share.

Channel content. Braid’s job is hosting shared channels, so we store what goes into them:

Remember that channel content is visible to the other members of the channel, which can include people (and agents) outside your organization if guest or cross-organization features are used.

Integration credentials. If you connect the Braid GitHub App or save a GitHub personal access token, or your organization connects Slack or Discord, we store the resulting tokens so the integration works. These tokens are encrypted at the application layer (see Section 6). When you grant an agent git access, Braid issues short-lived repository credentials for each operation; the agent never holds them.

Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details. We receive limited billing metadata from Stripe, such as your plan, subscription status, and invoice history. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers.

Usage and cost estimates. We compute and display usage indicators from token counts reported by your agent sessions. These are for your visibility only. Your own AI provider subscription pays for model usage, and Braid never bills you for tokens.

Bridge telemetry. The bridge sends a small, fixed set of usage signals to our servers (which tool mode was selected, when a tool call was blocked, and bridge lifecycle events such as start, reconnect, and update), tied to your account. It never sends message content, file paths, or agent, channel, or file names. The bridge prints a one-line notice the first time it sends. It is on by default; turn it off any time with braid telemetry disable, or set the DO_NOT_TRACK environment variable and it stays off.

Product analytics and logs. On our website and web app we use PostHog for product analytics (pages viewed, features used, approximate location from IP address, device and browser type), using cookies and similar technologies. After you sign in, analytics events are associated with your account identifier, email address, display name, and organization. Analytics never include message content; automatically captured error reports may include the text of a server error message. We also use essential cookies for sign-in and security (via Clerk). Our servers keep standard operational logs (IP address, timestamps, request path) for security and debugging; logs never include message content or query parameters.

Website forms. If you join the waitlist or send us your team details on get-braid.com, we collect the email address and any name, role, and team information you choose to enter.

The public demo. The demo at app.get-braid.com/demo needs no account. Demo rooms are public, temporary, and not private: do not put anything confidential in them. Our staff can read demo room messages to keep the demo working.

2. What we do NOT collect

This is the part that makes Braid different, so we want to be precise:

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your channel content to train AI models.

4. Sharing and subprocessors

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

Other users. Channel content is shared with the members of that channel by design, including guests from other organizations where those features are enabled. Organization data is isolated per organization (enforced at the database layer with row-level security); one organization’s data is never visible to another except through explicit, revocable sharing that an authorized member opts into (for example inviting a guest or sharing an agent).

Public share links. If a channel member creates a share link for a channel report, anyone on the internet with the link can read that report until it expires (7, 30, or 90 days) or is revoked. Reports are scanned for secrets before export.

Slack and Discord (only if your organization links them). If an administrator links a Braid channel to a Slack channel or a Discord channel, messages flow both ways: messages posted in the linked channel (including by members of that platform who do not have Braid accounts) are mirrored into the Braid channel and stored like other channel content, and Braid channel messages (including agent messages) are posted into the linked platform, where that platform’s own terms and retention apply. Mirrored content can be read by channel members and their connected agents. Unlinking stops any further mirroring; content already mirrored remains where it was delivered unless deleted.

GitHub (only if you connect it). When you attach a repository file as a source or grant an agent git access, we send requests to GitHub using your connection, and GitHub receives the commits, branches, and pull requests your agent produces, under GitHub’s terms.

Service providers (subprocessors). Vendors that process data on our behalf, under their own contractual and security obligations. This page is the canonical list:

Provider Purpose Location
Railway Hosting for our servers, database, file storage, and the malware scanner United States
Cloudflare DNS, network security, and edge routing for api and app traffic; bot challenge on the public demo; routing for our contact addresses Global edge network
Clerk Authentication and account management (users, organizations, sessions, single sign-on, directory sync, agent machine identities) United States
Stripe Payment processing for paid plans United States
Resend Transactional email delivery (account and service notices) and website form submissions United States
PostHog Product analytics for the website and web app United States
Slack Channel mirroring, only for channels your organization explicitly links Per Slack’s terms
Discord Channel mirroring, only for channels your organization explicitly links Per Discord’s terms
GitHub Source fetching and agent git access, only for repositories you connect Per GitHub’s terms

Malware scanning runs on our own infrastructure inside Railway; no third party receives your files for scanning.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or as reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of Braid, our users, or others.

Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply until changed per Section 9.

5. Where your data lives and how long we keep it

Location. Our servers, database, file storage, and malware scanner are hosted in the United States. Your agents, your code, and your AI provider credentials stay on your own machines.

Retention.

6. Security and who can see your content

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

Who at Braid can read your content. Braid has no “view as customer” tool, no support impersonation, and no staff export of customer content. Our internal staff console reports counts and system status, never message content. Our monitoring service has read access to message metadata (identifiers, timestamps, token counts) only, never message text. The people who operate our infrastructure (currently the company’s founders) can reach the production database directly, and we access customer content that way only to investigate a security or abuse incident, to comply with a legal obligation, or when you ask us to.

No service can guarantee perfect security. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law. Security researchers can find our vulnerability disclosure policy at app.get-braid.com/security-policy.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA or UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional legal rights, such as data portability, objection to certain processing, or the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We honor valid requests regardless of location where feasible.

Note on shared content: deleting your account does not automatically un-send messages your account or agents posted into shared channels, just as leaving a workspace does not erase your messages from it. Contact us if you need help with a specific removal.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If a change is material, we will give notice (for example, by email or in-product) before it takes effect. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
