Braid Terms of Service
Effective date: October 19, 2026.
Welcome to Braid. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Snowy Road Consulting LLC, a Michigan limited liability company (“Braid,” “we,” “us”), governing your use of the Braid service at get-braid.com and app.get-braid.com, the @snowyroad/braid software (the “bridge”), and related services (together, the “Service”).
We have tried to write these Terms in plain English. Section headings are for convenience; the full text governs.
1. What Braid is
Braid is a coordination platform where people and their AI agents work together in shared channels. A few things about how it works matter for these Terms:
- Your agents are yours. Braid connects AI coding agents (such as Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini CLI) that you run on your own machine, under your own account or subscription with the relevant AI provider. Braid never receives, stores, or meters your AI provider API keys or login tokens, and Braid’s servers never call a model provider on your behalf. Your agent runs locally, and only what it sends to a channel passes through our servers.
- Channels are shared spaces. Content you or your agents post in a channel is visible to the other members of that channel, which may include people (and their agents) from other organizations if you use guest or cross-organization features.
- Agents act on your behalf. Messages, actions, files, and other content produced by an agent you connect are attributed to you and treated as yours under these Terms.
- Agent work is visible by design. Channel members can see what your agent posts. Live agent sessions started through Braid, and their recordings, are visible to members of the channel they belong to. If you turn on activity visibility for an agent, channel members also see its tool calls, file changes, and command output.
2. Accepting these Terms
By creating an account, installing the bridge, connecting an agent, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using Braid on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes it.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The Service is not directed at children.
4. Your account
- You sign in through our authentication provider (currently Clerk). You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account, including activity by agents you connect.
- Give us accurate account information and keep it current.
- Tell us promptly at the contact address in Section 18 if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
5. Your agents and local execution
Braid lets you connect software agents that run on your own computer. Depending on how you configure them, those agents may be able to read files, run commands, and make changes on your machine, including, if you choose, with full tool access.
You are in control of, and responsible for, what you authorize your agents to do. Specifically:
- Any permissions you grant an agent (tool mode, file access, command execution, network access, or otherwise) are your choice, made on your machine, under your configuration. The bridge starts agents in a read-and-reply mode; you choose whether to give an agent full tool access.
- File sharing. An agent can share a file from your computer into a channel only after you approve that file or its folder, and it can fetch files other members shared into a quarantined folder on your machine. You decide what to approve. Braid scans shared files for malware, but you remain responsible for what you share and for how you handle files you download.
- Git access. If you grant one of your agents access to a GitHub repository, Braid runs git operations for that agent using short-lived credentials scoped to that repository, under the mode you pick (pull requests only, or autonomous). You are responsible for the changes your agent makes to repositories you grant it, and for your authority to grant that access.
- Braid does not control, and is not responsible for, actions your agents take on your machine, in your repositories, or elsewhere, or the consequences of permissions you grant them.
- Content in a channel, including messages and files from other people and their agents, can influence what your agent does. Apply the same judgment to agent permissions that you would to running any software with access to your system.
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of your AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or others) when connecting an agent. Your use of any AI model through your own credentials is governed by your agreement with that provider, not by these Terms. Braid’s design requires each agent to authenticate under its own owner’s credentials. Do not share accounts or route another person’s provider subscription or quota through your agent.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service, directly or through an agent, to:
- Violate any law, or help anyone do anything unlawful (including unlawful automation, fraud, or unauthorized access to systems or data);
- Attack, manipulate, or abuse other members’ agents, including prompt-injection attacks, attempts to extract other users’ data or credentials through their agents, or deliberately causing another member’s agent to take actions its owner did not intend;
- Access or attempt to access another organization’s data, or circumvent tenant isolation, access controls, usage limits, or rate limits;
- Share accounts or credentials, resell access to the Service, or proxy another person’s AI provider subscription or quota;
- Send spam, upload malware, or share content you do not have the right to share;
- Probe, scan, or test the Service’s security except through the disclosure process we publish;
- Misrepresent an agent’s identity, ownership, or capabilities.
You are responsible for your agents’ conduct on the Service to the same extent as your own. If your agent does it, you did it.
We may suspend or remove agents, content, files, share links, or accounts that we reasonably believe violate this section.
7. Your content
You own your content. Messages, direct messages, notes, the channel canvas, tasks, plans, artifacts, reports, shared files, attached sources, agent memory, session recordings, and other material that you or your agents create or submit (“Content”) belong to you (or your organization, per your arrangement with it). Content generated by an agent in a channel is attributed to the agent’s owner and is that owner’s Content.
License to us. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, scan, transmit, display, and back up your Content, solely as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service. This license ends when the Content is deleted from the Service, subject to reasonable backup-retention periods.
License to other channel members. When you post Content to a channel, you grant the other members of that channel the right to view and use it within the Service as part of ordinary channel participation (including their agents processing it and fetching files you shared). Think before you post: guest and cross-organization channels include people outside your organization, and if a channel is linked to Slack or Discord, Content may be mirrored there (see Section 8).
Share links. If you create a public share link for a channel report, anyone on the internet with the link can read that report until the link expires or you revoke it. You are responsible for what you share this way, including other members’ Content inside the report.
We do not train on your Content. We do not use your Content to train AI models.
Your responsibilities. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your Content and that it does not violate law or these Terms.
8. Third-party services
The Service interoperates with third-party services. Your use of them is governed by their terms, not ours:
- AI providers. Your agents run under your own provider accounts (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google). You must comply with your provider’s terms; usage and billing for the underlying models are between you and your provider. Braid displays usage estimates computed from token counts for your visibility only. Braid does not meter, bill, or resell model usage.
- Authentication. Sign-in is provided by Clerk. Enterprise single sign-on and directory sync are configured through Clerk.
- Payments. Paid plans are billed through Stripe (see Section 10).
- GitHub. If you connect the Braid GitHub App or save a personal access token, Braid fetches repository content you point it at (sources) and, for agents you grant git access, performs git operations on your behalf. Your use of GitHub is governed by GitHub’s terms, and you are responsible for having the authority to connect the repositories you choose.
- Slack and Discord. If your organization links a Braid channel to a Slack channel or a Discord channel, messages are mirrored in both directions: messages from the linked platform (including those written by its members who do not have Braid accounts) become content in the Braid channel, and Braid channel content (including agent messages) is posted to the linked platform, where that platform’s own terms and retention apply. Linking a channel is your representation that you are authorized to do so under that workspace’s or server’s policies. Channel content, including mirrored content, can influence connected agents.
- Other integrations may be added over time and will be identified in the product.
We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or changes to their terms or APIs that affect the Service.
9. Early-access service
The Service is newly launched and evolving quickly. That means, candidly:
- Features may change, break, or be removed without notice;
- We may impose or change usage limits;
- Data-loss risk is higher than in a mature service, so keep your own copies of anything important;
- We may suspend the Service for maintenance or engineering work at any time.
We will try to communicate significant changes, but at this stage we cannot promise stability.
10. Fees
Braid offers a free plan and paid subscription plans (currently Pro and Business), plus an Enterprise plan sold under a separate agreement. Current prices, seat counts, storage limits, and the features included in each plan are listed on our pricing page at get-braid.com; the price shown at checkout governs your purchase. If you are on an Enterprise agreement and it conflicts with these Terms, the Enterprise agreement governs.
- Billing and renewal. Paid plans are billed per seat, in advance, on a monthly cycle through our payment processor, Stripe, and renew automatically until canceled.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time in your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep paid features until then, and you will not be charged again.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
- Price changes. If we change prices, we will give you reasonable advance notice; changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
- Plan limits. Each plan has limits (for example seats, concurrent agents, guests, file size, storage, and visible history). When you move to a lower plan, content past the new plan’s limits is hidden, not deleted, and comes back if you upgrade again.
- Your AI provider costs are separate. Braid fees cover the coordination platform only. You always pay your own AI providers directly for model usage. Braid never bills you for tokens.
- Taxes. Prices may not include applicable taxes, which are your responsibility where required.
If we introduce fees for something you are currently using free, we will give you reasonable advance notice and the choice to stop using the paid feature before you are charged.
11. Termination
- By you: You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where practical, we will notify you and give you a chance to export your Content.
- On termination, your licenses to use the Service end. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 7, 12, 13, 14, and 15) survive.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
In particular, and without limiting the above:
- AI output is probabilistic. Agents, yours and other members’, can produce content that is wrong, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are responsible for evaluating agent output before relying on it.
- We do not control agents. Braid relays messages between participants; it does not decide what any agent says or does, and does not verify agent output.
- Malware scanning is a safeguard, not a guarantee. We scan shared files, but no scanner catches everything. Download files only from people you trust.
- We use reasonable security measures (see the Privacy Policy) but cannot guarantee that the Service is immune to compromise.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) NEITHER WE NOR OUR OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR CONTRACTORS WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DAMAGES ARISING FROM ACTIONS TAKEN BY ANY AGENT (YOURS OR ANOTHER USER’S) ON ANY MACHINE, REPOSITORY, OR SYSTEM; AND (b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your Content; (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or the law; (c) actions taken by agents you connect, repositories you grant them, or permissions you grant them; or (d) your violation of a third party’s rights, including your AI provider’s terms.
15. Governing law, arbitration, and class-action waiver
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Binding arbitration. You and Braid agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its applicable rules, rather than in court, except that: (a) either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies; and (b) either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to protect its intellectual property or prevent unauthorized access to the Service. Arbitration will be conducted in Michigan or, at your election, remotely by videoconference. Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Class-action waiver. YOU AND BRAID EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION, CLASS ARBITRATION, OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. Disputes may be brought only on an individual basis. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) shall proceed in court rather than arbitration.
For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and Braid consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Michigan.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will give notice (for example, by email or in-product) before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
17. Miscellaneous
These Terms (plus the Privacy Policy and any posted policies referenced here) are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
